The Works of Eye-Sis and Victoria Pisces had its first act in Rua da Miguel Bombarda 222 under the name FRANKINCENSE VOL I. This Exhibition was Inaugurated on January 25th taking place during the Inaugurações Simultâneas de Miguel Bombarda, a bi-monthly event happening in the Porto Arts District.
In this intervention The Works of Eye-Sis and Victoria Pisces participated in the art world to present a collection of paintings made with Frankincense Oil together with a section of photos from the album “Natural Picture Language”, a series of single shots without post production process made with an old mobile phone. “An album of Supercharged Objects” is a collection of graphic paintings following a single stroke. Both are two main bodies of work in continuos developement, as they touch on two core concepts of the project: Raw primal meaning and inherent creation.
“My intention with this exhibition was to come out about my lived experience, honouring the symbolic mind and the language of the Soul in times of tyrannical literacy. This act was named Frankincense as it is an oil that I used on my first paintings at a time where I was deeply healing generational trauma related to something oddly specific: The suppression of sexual power and personal authority that my female ancestors had to endure for being ahead of their time.”
